About

The story of Mennyei Magyar Agar began way back in 2000, when I, Eirin Emaus moved to Hungary to study medicine, firstly in Debrecen, later in Budapest. I fell in love with Hungary, and would have stayed forever if I could. I was already somewhat aquainted with the Greyhound, the Whippet, and the Afghan hound through family and friends, so it felt absolutly natural when I finished my studies, and planned to get the very first puppy of my own, to bring a piece of Hungarian heritage back home with me to Norway.

I had the very best help with the introduction to the breed. In 2012, Hajnali Hös Huba was born, and I was lucky to see him already just one week old, it felt immediately already then like a meeting of faith. I had no previous experience with dog shows, but Huba wasn't shy for attention, and together we travelled the world, and won almost every title attainable. We made friends in and off the show ring around Europe.

My father, Tor-Eilif Emaus, frequently watched Huba when I was on call, or away because of work. They enjoyed hiking, skiing, running or just relaxing at home.

In 2016, coming home from a trip to India and Hungary, I gifted my father with his own Magyar Agar, Illa-Berek Boholy. He took her in his arms and he has hardly been away from her ever since. Huba and Boholy layed the foundation for our little family breeding program. We had our first, and so far only, litter in 2021.

The name of the kennel; Mennyei (Heavenly in Hungarian) is chosen in honor of the love for the breed, for the country of origin.

In 2024, Hans Aleksander Tørres joined our team, as he too aquired his first magyar agar, Illa-Berek Hepe-Hupa from Hungary. Hans Aleksander Tørres has a lifetime worth of experience with different dog breeds and with showing. The passion for dogs is in his pedigree. We are very happy to welcome him in to our team, and expect of him in the future to take lead, and continue building a legacy of healthy, happy, breed-typical dogs, a little "Hungarikum" in Norway.
